ADVICE | Deciding between CICS and IMS

A Search390.com user asked:

"How do I choose between IMS/DC and CICS when trying to develop a new
online application using Enterprise COBOL on a z/OS machine? I have
access to both in our organization and need to know which one will be
advantageous in terms of performance and ease of maintenance?"

ADVICE | Mixing RENTs and NORENTs

A Search390.com user asked:

"Is it possible to successfully run a composite load in a batch
and/or on-line non-CICS IMS environment mixing RENT and NORENT
modules? This question assumes, of course, that none of the modules
contain CICS coding. We are a NODYNAM shop with some, but not all,
applications moving to CICS. We want to avoid having to maintain
multiple load module versions of the same code."
