Mac Mini Promotion Lasts 12 Hours

Twelve hours after it offered a 30-day test drive of Mac minis, Apple withdrew the offer from its Web site, stirring the rumor mill yet again. The deal was originally supposed to run from yesterday through Oct. 31. The promotion allowed new users to try out the no-frills desktop computer for 30 days with a money-back guarantee. That doubled the usual 15-day return policy. Customers had to buy the mini online and would have had to pay to ship it back if they decided not to keep it.
